8-BITTY: THEY GOT THE SARGE

They got the Sarge! One of them took a bite out of his shoulder then others started ripping into torso. I thought we'd lost him but after a while he got back up. A few minutes later they slowly walked away so I went over to see if he was okay and he attacked me!! I put half a clip into his chest but he kept coming for me. He bit me pretty good but I think I'll be okay. Vote for this design on design by humans! If you dig it, head over to design by humans and give me a vote! Thanks yo! KAIT KYBAR: CHARACTERS

Character art, there is so much of it out there, and so much is awesome and wicked – so many character artists have amazing imaginations. Kait Kybar seems to have carved out a bit of a niche for himself – I think his work stands out from a lot of what I've seen. This piece in particular caught my eye, very cool mech-militant-robot-dude, love the colour and mood. Check his work here.

SOMETHING I FOUND ON BODEGA

I don't know who it's by or what it's for but here it is for your viewing pleasure. Bodega is definitely worth a look.

MAYERAS PIERRE: THE HARD LUCK MAN

I thought I'd post this piece by Materas Pierre because I love the style of drawing the style of narrative and the content. Each frame itself is potentially it's own art piece, but together they assemble to create an interesting context. Mayeras is an excellent artist and knows his media well (much like Joe Dion in my last post). There's not much else to be said here, except kick-ass piece of art! See his folio here.

KISS: FLABBERGASTER (FRIDAY FUN)

For those that don't know I am an avid video games fan. Sometimes I think this comes through in my art work. I thought this would slot nicely into friday afternoon (time of posting). So consider this some friday fun with smooth editing and some great tunes (mash up of pendulum and a track from requiem for a dream soundtrack). Youtube page here.

LMD: SKULL ANATOMY

This is an old piece of mine. I got the idea for it as I was walking to work – I had to wait for 9 hours before I could get started on it. This was my first intricate/time consuming piece that uses many smaller images to create a larger image. It was lots of fun and I think it's one of my strongest pieces. I've come across similar executions over time, but I think mine always comes out darkest in mood – which I like. The Skull Anatomy t-shirt can be purchased here.

PEACE KEEPER

I just spotted this piece by UK artist Antony Micallef on the carmichael gallery site (amoung many other goodies). I've spent a good part of today in a world where military meets graffiti and this really topped it off. I always find the image of a soldier with gas mask a lot more intimidating than without. Perhaps it conjures fear in a similar way that ceremonial/war masks worn in tribal communities throughout the ages do (and still today no doubt). I've always thought there is a visual connection between gas masks and human skulls too, I think Darth Vader fits in there somewhere also. There's an idea for a new project in all of this.
