KAI LIM: RE-ANIMATED STORMTROOPER
I just stumbled across this piece by Kai Lim and had to post it for obvious reasons. Imagine an entire film or trilogy of Star Wars zombies! I have no idea how it would work, but I don't really care right now. Kai has some stunning work over at deviantart, check it here.

COM TRUISE: POLYHURT
Just loving Com Truise at the moment, great to listen to when being creative. I wasn't convinced at first but I think the visuals work really well with this track. Enjoy.
KENNETH ROCAFORT: VADER
I feel like just about every Darth Vader illustration possible has been executed. Well at least I did before I found this fresh approach by Kenneth Rocafort using pencil ink and whiteout. The illustration was for the 30th anniversary of the Empire Strikes Back. Typically Vader is depicted through very polished and sometimes over-produced means, it's nice to see a more raw depiction. JOSHUA M SMITH: THE BRASS TRACK
Star Wars fan art is slowly taking over the internet. It's hard to not come across it on any artist site like behance, MySoti etc. I'm certainly guilty of feeding this unstoppable beast, as a Star Wars fan and a designer nothing beats sitting down and pumping out a star destroyer vector. Not wanting to sound too harsh I think it's pretty safe to say that 90% of Star Wars fan art on the net is absolute rubbish, good on everyone for having a go, better luck next time. I think 9% of the stuff out there is good enough for people to buy and wear with pride. 1% is so good it makes people (like me) go insane! I doubt George Lucas could source better art. In my opinion Joshua Smith has made it into that 1%. His abilities as an artist are well ahead of most others, so his execution here (with a great sense of composition) is what really brought it home. The detail in the vector work is what initially pulled me in. The colour palette is outstanding. The whole thing looks like it's been left out in the sun for a few weeks to take the "edge" off the colours – I love how he's gone with a non-rich black (what's the opposite of rich black?). This work warrants the introduction of an INSPIRATION label!
LMD: T-BOMB
An addition to my Star Wars vehicles series. I was always a little facinated by this guy as a kid because it was rarely seen in the films – just once I think. George Lucas and Co were onto such a good thing back then. I think there were certain elements of the Imperial fleet that were borrowed from Nazi Germany, such as the cockpit window which is similar in appearance to some German WW2 bombers.
NEW WORK: DIGITAL ATST
This is another piece for an ongoing series of Star Wars vehicle t-shirts that are currently on sale at my MySoti store. I'm trying to use vehicles that haven't dominated popular culture too much already. This in itself is quite a challenge and I feel that this work is fairly cliche already. On the other side it's fun and experimental and I'm sure (hope) someone out there will appreciate it.
NEW WORK: ROGUE 2
This is a new piece I did for a t-shirt. It combines my love of all things star wars with a "Sliced Pixel" vector technique I picked up on behance by Victor van Gaasbeek. The T-shirt can be seen/bought at my MySoti store.
STAR WARS PLANET POSTERS
Justin Van Genderen has put together a series of posters featuring destinations only Star Wars geeks would recognise (me included). His execution is spot on IMO, the vintage theme reflects the general distressed/grimey nature of the Star Wars universe, something that George Lucas nailed but didn't continue in the more recent films as much. The use of textures here really lifts the simple vectors and tidy type work which all come together in strong compositions.
